Changing the glass is an easy repair to do on most quartz watches. There are 3 types of material used for watch glasses, Mineral Glass, Acrylic, and Sapphire (there are others such as sapphire coated glass but these are rare) . Each material has its advantages and disadvantages
- Acrylic: The most shock resistant but it is easy to scratch. Over time the plastic deteriorates, cracks and yellows.
- Mineral Glass: Cheap and looks good but it is easy to break.
- Sapphire: Almost impossible to scratch but it is expensive and surprisingly it can shatter.

Watches with rectangular, shaped or none round glasses are more complicated as the glass can not be bought easily and has to be made for that watch but can be done
